As a little girl, I was always afraid of skating. That fear is probably because I once got an accident with skates during a playdate. In addition, I have noticed in recent years that I have a fear of falling as soon as I am on a skateboard, behind a friend on a bicycle or when I am at a certain height.
Last week, I was in Decathlon, a sports store, and I saw skates. The moment I tried on the skates, I got mixed feelings - excitement, anxiety, and curiosity. And then I immediately remembered Mr. Drepaul's words, "Go beyond your fears." Then, I decided to buy the skates right away.
Later in the day, I went skating with some friends. I was afraid because skating on asphalt was different than skating on the shop floor of Decathlon. On the other hand, I had nowhere to hold on to, so I had to balance. I fell a few times, but fortunately, I had knee, elbow and wrist guards on.
They say: "Live your life to the fullest because you only live once." Sometimes, I put my life on hold, only because of fear. But, when I fight against my fears and when I overcome them, I feel so free, satisfied and ready for a new exciting experience.
